t/n: In the recording, you can hear a child crying and the teacher say "You're a liar. You're a bad kid. You're turning into the worst child I've ever seen"

News transcript:

"This is the voice of a teacher who is lashing out on and humiliating a student in front of his friends.

The child is crying next to him.

Suspicious of seeing her third grader so anxious that he couldn't urinate, the mother hid a recorder [in his stuff] and sent her child to school.

As you have just heard, the teacher constantly dismisses the child.

However, this teacher, rather, is claiming that the mother infringed their teaching rights by recording their lessons.

Let's find out whether it is a violation of school rights or child abuse.

This was journalist Jeung Sangbin."

Report:
In a classroom in the third grade of an elementary school in Gyeonggi-do, last June.
The homeroom teacher lashes out on a single student.

[Jaemin (alias) & Homeroom teacher (June 23rd)]
"Did you do your homework or not? Did you write your dictation or not?... You didn't do anything yet you're here protesting..."

Rather than comforting the child, the teacher's tone becomes even more severe.

[Homeroom teacher]
"You're crying again, Jaemin is crying again, just go to another class, you're not our class' #7 Kim Jaemin" (t/n: in Korea, you're assigned a number as a student)
[Jaemin]
"I want to be #7 in teacher's class"
[Homeroom teacher]
"We don't have a #7 here. Jaemin is from another class"

Even during mobile class, the teacher left him alone in an empty classroom (t/n: mobile class are classes where you will be attending with people from your proficiency level irrespectively of your grade)

[homeroom teacher]
"We're going to the sports room. Jaemin-ah, teacher is going to class. Jaemin, do whatever you feel is right, since I don't know."

The child is left alone crying

[homeroom teacher]
"I don't want to go to another class, I don't want to go to another class, I don't want to go to another class"

The teacher is mocking the student in front of other classmates because he came back in the class.

[homeroom teacher]
"Ok, everyone, if you've lied about 297 times in 3 months, wouldn't that make you a liar? Not attending classes, not doing the dictation,..."

Eventually, the teacher's voice rises

[homeroom teacher]
"What are you even doing? You're not from our class, get out! You're not in our class anymore. Teacher doesn't know you"

The child ran out of the classroom crying that day and came back and was scolded again and again.

Although he was emotionally unstable, Jaemin, who, although had adjusted well to school, said that he could not urinate and had nightmares about two months after he entered the third grade.

Her parents eventually found out about the situation when Jaemin's parents secretly put a tape recorder in his clothes.

[homeroom teacher]
"You're a liar. You're a bad kid. You're turning into the worst child I've ever seen"

[mother]
"It's to painful to even think about how this teacher was mocking him in front of all those students"

The local child protection agency that received the report judged it as "emotional child abuse."

[director of private counseling center]
Whenever they asked something (to Jaemin), he would always say "it was my fault, I won't do it again", he was always apologizing, even when he had no reason to apologize...

However, the school did not impose any discipline on the teacher, only changing Jaemin's homeroom teacher.

The teacher also insisted that "recording classes without permission is a violation of the teacher's right", and the school accepted this claim.

[mother]
"The perpetrator has become a victimized teacher. (Recording child abuse) is legal according to the law, yet despite saying all this..."

Police called the teacher last week to investigate, because the teacher was giving class to another grade, the child wasn't able to go to school.

[mother]
"I hope we, the victims, don't have to go to school. I hope my child will be able to smile brightly again at school and find his lost self-esteem"

The teacher has added "The child ran out and cried loudly, often interrupting other students’ classes before." and "I've been guiding the child wholeheartedly, and I didn't mean to hurt him intentionally."

Anyways, aren't there lots of people who want to become teacher?? Bast*rds like him who get caught should be cut off right away, can't they just hire another teacher instead??

F*ckers like him are seriously evil. You can let things like this slide without getting caught in elementary school, but you will never be able to get away with acting like that in middle scohol or high school.

They need to change teachers to service workers insteadㅋㅋ  And have students and parents evaluate their teachers every month

People who have passed the recruitment test and are still on standby are waiting indefinitely, of course we need to cut him off, the parents and the victim should also file for compensation and move on with civil proceedings and the Office of Education should file a lawsuit against the school for tarnishing he reputation of teachers. We need to stop letting f*ckers like him bully young kids because they're easy targets, it looks like he's taking pleasure in doing so, what a pervert. We don’t punish them properly, and all victims get is a recognition that the damage has occurred and are stuck self-medicating themselves. Punishment for the perpetrators is also ambiguous, so this is bound to repeat again and again and only the number of victims will raise. Please give him a fine to pay or imprisonment

Ha seriously middle school is indeed an important period, but elementary school teachers are especially important, we need to check for their personality... Memories from my junior year stayed like a trauma for the rest of my life, now, I've became so shy with people around me and I can't get along with people easily
